Two years later, when Dot was eighteen, she married Chris at a big wedding surrounded by family and friends, moving to the brand new city of Milton Keynes not long after. It’s here that the most important and cherished job of her life began: she became a mother to her two children, first Tracy who was born three years after her marriage when Dot was 21 then Paul two years after that.
Tracy’s earliest memory is of being pushed in her pram by her mum when she used to walk with Judy and her son Dean all the way into Bletchley to do their shopping every week. Tracy can still feel the texture of the leaves when she reached out to touch them during the walk and the feel of her mum stroking her hair. It’s a credit to just how special Dot was that her children can still feel that warmth to this day. As Tracy says, she was like the sun to them; the centre that gave them unconditional warmth, stability and happiness.
